Better OSHA compliance.
Zero sharps sorting.
One motion.
Sterilization Reimagined.

The DriRak Clean Flow System gives your practice one standard for loose instruments, cassettes, and handpieces. DriRak racks drain, dry, and organize every item, so no one sorts a sharp tip by hand, small parts stay together in one place, and utility gloves stay on from dirty to clean.

Invented by Dr. Greg Grillo, DDS and Rita Kessell, RDH; working clinicians who lived this problem.

The problem

The same failure, cycle after cycle, in most practices.

Instruments leave the ultrasonic wet, loose in a tangled pile or stacked in cassettes. Handling them with heavy utility gloves on is nearly impossible, so the gloves come off. This is not a training gap or a careless team.

It's a process that never had an engineered solution.

Utility gloves stay on the entire time. Watch the difference side by side.

The DriRak Clean Flow System

One standard, from dirty to clean. Three tracks, one finish.

Clean Flow is the sterilization workflow built around DriRak. Every item moves in one direction, every step is the same no matter who is working, and utility gloves stay on throughout. It comes with a step by step guide and a wall poster your team can follow.

  1. 1

    Gear up and receive

Everything arrives on the dirty side. If you cannot process right away, apply enzymatic foam to break down debris.

    Enzymatic foam spray
Protective gear: Goggles or safety glasses, Face shield, Mask, Heavy utility gloves, Gown or apron
  2. 2

    Choose your track

Loose instruments and cassettes go through the ultrasonic. Handpieces skip it. Each track drains and dries on its own DriRak rack. Option: quick bursts of compressed or canned air rapidly dry instruments when time matters.

  3. 3

    Package and sterilize

Wipe handpieces with handpiece wipes. Package instruments with indicators inside and out. Sterilize on the validated cycle.

  4. 4

    Cool, store, verify

Cool, then store dry packs in closed storage. Then prove it is working with a steady rhythm of checks.

  5. 5

    Spray and walk away

At the end of the day, clean the rack, spray DriRak with Thymox, and walk away. Keep it wet for the label contact time.

DriRak supports draining and drying. It does not sterilize. Always follow each product's instructions for use. Based on CDC dental reprocessing guidance.

Modular by design

One rack solves the workflow. Two racks scale it.

Place two racks end to end for four instrument trays in one clean footprint. Run four full instrument sets, or give handpieces and bur blocks their own space. Add more as the practice grows.

Most practices start with the pair, the setup shown here.

Use cassettes?

Cassettes change the shape of the problem.

Wet cassettes get stacked flat, piled on towels, or propped against a wall. It happens again on the clean side, when cassettes come out of the sterilizer hot and damp.

  • 01 Before sterilizationStacked wet cassettes dry slowly and unevenly.
  • 02 After sterilizationHot cassettes stacked together trap condensation.
  • 03 Both sidesTowels add laundry and put the sterile field at risk.

DriRak Cassette works on the dirty side and the clean side.

Both workflows lead to the same gap, every cycle.

Sorting a pile or a stack in heavy utility gloves is impractical, so exam gloves get used. OSHA calls for engineering controls that reduce exposure. Until DriRak, none existed for this step.

What the patent covers. The utility patent protects the method itself: dumping instruments onto self aligning, elevated rails for drying and one hand pouching. It covers both DriRak Instrument and DriRak Cassette, regardless of appearance, modifications, or materials.

Loose instrument practices

The towel pile. You know the one.

Instruments hit the towel and scatter, tips crossing tips, nothing easy to grip. Three problems follow, several times a day.

  • 01 Gloves come off to sort the pileHandling contaminated sharps without utility gloves falls short of OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1030.
  • 02 Instruments lying flat trap waterPouching before they are fully dry compromises the sterile barrier.
  • 03 Tips knock against each otherMetal on metal contact dulls edges and shortens instrument life.

What it costs

Compliance exposure

Handling contaminated sharps without utility gloves is a documented gap under the bloodborne pathogens standard, repeated several times a day.

Staff injury

Testing, treatment, follow up, and lost time. Hand sorting exposed tips is the highest risk moment in the sterilization area.

Sterile barrier

Instruments pouched before they are fully dry compromise the sterile barrier, a CDC reprocessing concern. Tip contact in the pile also shortens instrument life.

The engineering

Built like the clinical equipment it is.

Medical grade stainless steel throughout, perforated on the sides, back, dividers, and base so air reaches every surface. No plastic parts, nothing to degrade, and easy to maintain.

An enclosed tray that slides out.Water drains off the instruments into a fully enclosed tray beneath the rack. Slide it out and empty it in seconds, with no tilting and no runoff. The rack and tray sit on the included reusable silicone mat.

The reusable silicone mat replaces towel laundry for good, and the included Thymox spray keeps end of day care to a single step.

Questions

Before you order.

Something else on your mind? Email info@drirak.com and a member of our team will reply.

Which DriRak do I need?

If your practice processes loose instruments, choose DriRak Instrument. If you use cassettes, choose DriRak Cassette. Practices that run both workflows often order one pair of each.

Why do most practices order a pair?

Instrument practices typically run two racks for four instrument trays, or use the second rack for handpieces and bur blocks. Cassette practices use one rack on the dirty side and one on the clean side.

Will it fit my cassettes?

DriRak Cassette accommodates the major cassette brands, including Hu‑Friedy IMS, Zirc, and generic cassettes. If you are unsure about your model, email us and we will confirm.

Can DriRak go in the autoclave?

DriRak is medical grade stainless steel throughout, with no plastic parts, and is made from autoclave compatible materials. However, it does not need to be autoclaved.

What comes in the box?

Each rack includes its enclosed slide out water tray, one reusable silicone mat, and a 32 oz bottle of Thymox Disinfectant Spray.

How do I care for DriRak at the end of the day?

Spray the rack and mat with Thymox until the surfaces are wet, then walk away. No wiping or rinsing is required. Thymox is an EPA registered hospital disinfectant (EPA Reg. No. 87742‑1) with a botanically derived active ingredient, thymol from thyme oil, and it rates in the EPA's lowest toxicity category. Always follow the directions on the label.

How can I increase the speed of drying even more?

Dental offices have compressed air, and a line and nozzle can usually easily be added to sterilization. Gently use air over the aligned, elevated instruments or cassettes to dramatically reduce drying times. But without air, expect 10-15% faster drying times over piles.

Can I use a different disinfectant?

Please use only Thymox Disinfectant Spray on DriRak. Other cleaners and disinfectants, such as alcohol based or quaternary ammonium sprays and wipes or bleach, are not approved for DriRak, and damage they cause is not covered by the warranty. Thymox refills are available here in packs of 2 or 4 bottles at $12.99 per bottle, and they ship free when ordered with a DriRak rack.

What is your return policy?

Returns are accepted within 30 days. The buyer pays return shipping and handling, and a $29.95 restocking fee applies.

Is there a warranty?

Yes. DriRak carries a one year limited warranty. Coverage requires cleaning with Thymox Disinfectant Spray only, as described in our care instructions. The medical grade stainless steel will NOT corrode with the right care.

Do you offer DSO, dental school, or volume pricing?

Yes. Email info@drirak.com and we will prepare a quote for your organization.
